Subaru’s Richard tops the podium at Pacific Forest Rally
Subaru Rally Team Canada driver Pat Richard and returning co-driver Alan Ockwell led the Pacific Forest Rally and their 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI to a flawless first-place finish during the penultimate event on September 30 and October 1, in Merritt, British Columbia. This was their first time competing together during the 2011 season, though the pair won the Canadian Rally Championship title together in 2008 and 2009.
“We led the event from the start and we managed to keep our lead throughout the event,” says Pat Richard. “I can’t say enough about how well the team and the car performed.”
In total, seven Subaru entrants finished in the top ten with Leo Urlichich and co-driver Martin Brady claiming third place, leaving the second-place team of Antoine L’Estage and Nathalie Richard a spot on the podium.
“It was a great first event back with the team,” says returning co-driver Alan Ockwell. “Everything just fit together like an old glove as we got right back into our old rhythm very quickly. The whole team did a fantastic job.”
After winning the Pacific Forest Rally with more than a 40-second lead, Subaru Rally Team Canada will compete for the Manufacturer’s title at the Rally of the Tall Pines. The final event of the season will be held on November 25 and 26 in Bancroft, Ontario.
