New Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R Racer Hits the GT Circuit in 2016
Callaway Competition roll out their latest creation – the Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R. Known for their ability and engineering to take Chevrolets to entirely new levels, Callaway Cars have produced several creations over the years including this 2014 Calloway AeroWagon Concept. And now, it took nearly two years of planning and development but the new Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R is here, debuting worldwide at the ADAC GT Masters Season Finale displayed to the public for the first time on October 3, 2015 at the Hockenheimring in Germany.
New Callaway Corvette with 600-hp
The new C7 GT3-R is the successor of the C6-based Callaway Z06.R GT3. The new C7 is powered by a Chevrolet-based 6.2L V8 engine producing 600 horsepower, mated to an X-Trac 6-speed sequential gearbox with paddle-shift technology. The result is a GT3 racer built to meet all FIA rules and regulations. This Callaway Corvette plans to hit the track next year competing in the GT facing the world’s fastest cars in the circuit.
For a small, privately owned team like Callaway Competition up against the big boys we’d say the group has built a GT racer to reckoned with. We’ll find out in 2016.
