Porsche 911 Review: The iconic Porsche 911 has been going strong since 1963, seeing an evolution in design without veering far off the classic 911 persona we’ve come to love and enjoy. The real love and enjoyment however is behind the wheel of this high-performance rear-mounted, six-cyclinder boxter engine powered rocket which was air-cooled up until the 1998 introduction of the water-cooled 996 series. While the 911 badging has always remained the same, the internal nomenclature noting the various 911 generations include the original 911 from 1963 to 1989 (including the 911 turbo version 930 from 1975 to 1989); the Porsche 964 from 1989 to 1994; Porsche 993 from 1995 to 1998; Porsche 996 from 1999 to 2004 (with an all-new body and water-cooled engines); Porsche 997 from 2005 to 2011; and the current Porsche 991 as of 2012.
