2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Specs & Photos

Shopping for a used 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera? This coupe entered a completely new generation (991). Here's a closer look at spec changes & more.

The 2013 911 Carrera is virtually a completely new generation (991), with just the 911 Turbo continuing from the 2012 model year. While Porsche shrunk the lineup from 21 different 911, sixth-gen models to just six variants, rest assured the iconic sports car still offers precise handling, powerful engine choices, remarkably fast acceleration, top-quality & driver-focused interior, and surprising fuel efficiency.

Accessible in the coupe and convertible body styles (here’s the 2013 Carrera convertible version), the six trim levels include the Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S. All the models are all-wheel-drive, except for the first two, which come with the standard rear-wheel drivetrain. A seven-speed manual transmission is standard, whereas a seven-speed automated manual (PDK) is optional for the 2013 Carrera.

The 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera uses a horizontally opposed 3.4L V6 pumping out 350 hp and 287 pound-feet of torque. The automaker claims a 0 to 60 mph run in 4.4 seconds for the coupe, equipped with PDK.

On the other hand, the Carrera S carries a 3.8L V6, cranking out 400 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque (adding the Carrera S Powerkit takes power to 430 hp). Edmunds notes a 0 to 60 mph sprint in 4.6 seconds for the stick shift Carrera S coupe, 3.9 seconds for the Carrera S PDK, and 4.2 seconds for the Cabriolet S PDK.

The Carrera PDK is the most fuel-efficient in the lot, with 20/28/23 mpg city/highway/combined. Alternatively, the Carrera 4S Cabriolet delivers 18/26/21 mpg city/highway/combined.

The most powerful Carreras for the 2013 model year are again the Turbo and Turbo S, equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.8L engine producing 500 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel-drive and six-speed manual transmission are standard, while the PDK is optional.

The PDK-equipped Turbo completed a 0 to 60 run in a surprising 3.2 seconds (in Edmund’s testing). The Turbo S, with its 530 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, is obviously faster than the Turbo. The EPA rates these Turbos at 19 mpg combined.

The standard features encompass 19-inch alloys, automatic bi-xenon headlights, LED turn indicators and running lights, heated side mirrors, Porsche Communications Management, a nine-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, four-way power-changeable partial leather sport seats with manual fore/aft correction, split-folding back seats, a manual tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and an artificial suede headliner.
