Porsche celebrated the world premiere of the new Cayman at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The third generation of the popular coupe had been completely developed. It was lower and longer, lighter and faster, more efficient and more powerful than ever.

  • Redesigned exterior and interior for a more modern and sleek appearance
  • Increased horsepower and improved performance with a 3.4L engine
  • Introduced a 7-speed PDK transmission option
  • Enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced emissions
  • Improved handling and ride comfort through chassis refinements
  • Offered a more spacious and driver-focused cabin
  • Updated technology features and connectivity options

A longer wheelbase, wider track, and larger wheels enhanced the driving performance of the mid-engine sports car to a level rivalling its competitors. The new two-seater is – after the 911 Carrera and Boxster – the third sports car model line from Porsche to feature innovative lightweight body design.

The 2014 Cayman is up to 30 kg lighter, depending on the specific model and equipment, and it consumes up to 15 per cent less fuel per 100 km than the previous model – despite higher engine and driving performance. But it’s the more powerful ‘S’ variety we’re focused on here. So, here’s a closer look at its specs along with our full gallery.

The 2014 Cayman S can run a 4.2-second zero-to-60-mph sprint and a 12.7-second quarter-mile time at 112 mph, evidently even faster than the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Of course, if you can buy a slighter newer Cayman boasting even more style and power, Porsche rolled out the GTS models in 2018.

Below, a quick look at the 2014 Porsche Cayman S’ key specs, the upgrades on this particular model, and some nice shots of the sleek little German hardtop.
