Specs: The 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Still Impresses

The 911 Carrera may be the entry-level model, but this convertible impresses with a 3.4L flat-six engine with a potent 350 hp & 287 lb-ft of torque.

The 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is the same as the 2013 Carrera Coupe, with the only difference being a multilayer power soft top and a power-operated wind baffle. You can raise and lower the convertible top at speeds up to 31 mph, and the cabin is so calm that you can talk on your phone at 70 mph with the top down. Nice. Here’s a closer look at this convertible’s key features.

The base Carrera Cabriolet and Coupes get the single 3.4L flat-six under the hood. Overall, compared to the hardtop 911 coupes, the convertibles are a tad slower, from 0 to 60 mph, due to their extra weight. Edmunds noted that the Carrera S PDK accelerated from zero to 60 in 3.9 seconds, while the Cabriolet S PDK did the same in 4.2 seconds. Below is a closer look at each engine for the 2013 Porsche 911 lineup.

3.4L Flat-Six Engine (Carrera and Carrera S): The base Carrera models, as seen here, has a 3.4L flat-six engine, producing 350 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque. This engine, paired with the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, allowed for a brisk 0-60 mph acceleration time and a top track speed of around 176 mph.

3.8L Flat-Six Engine (Carrera S and Carrera 4S): The Carrera S and Carrera 4S models featured a more powerful 3.8L flat-six engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This enhanced engine performance provided an even more exhilarating driving experience, with improved acceleration and higher top speeds.

3.8L Flat-Six Engine (Carrera GTS): The Carrera GTS variant boasted the same 3.8L flat-six engine as the Carrera S and Carrera 4S but was tuned for increased power, generating 430 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This elevated the Carrera GTS to a higher level of performance, offering a spirited driving experience for enthusiasts seeking a more dynamic ride. To summarize:
